Sample Financial Data Generator

Excel based file for generating sample financial data with the help of VBA and Power Query.

Installation

• Download latest release here: https://github.com/charl-potgieter/SampleFinancialDataGenerator/releases

• Alternatively recreate with the data in the SpreadsheetMetadata folder utilising the code in the following repository:
  https://github.com/charl-potgieter/SpreadsheetCreator

Output files generated

• Journal listing
• Trial Balances
• Chart of accounts including a split between account code and description

Functionality

• Generates recurring journals between date range
• Apply increasing / decreasing trend over time
• Ability to apply random fluctuations to above trend
• Ad hoc once off journals
• Output is in the form of pipe delimited text files to enable easy reading by Excel or Power BI
